Pastor John says, "Hope is like sunshine, everyone needs a ray of it."

Devotion 9.5.2018

“And He called the twelve to Himself, and began to send them out two by two, and gave them power over unclean spirits. He commanded them to take nothing for the journey except a staff-no bag, no bread, no copper in their money belts- but to wear sandals, and not to put on two tunics. Also, He said to them, ‘In whatever place you enter a house, stay there till you depart from that place. And whoever will not receive you nor hear you, when you depart from there, shake off the dust under your feet as a testimony against them. Assuredly, I say to you, it will be more tolerable for Sodom and Gomorrah in the day of judgment than for that city!” Mark 6:7-11

There is so much for us to learn in just these few words from Jesus. As Christians, we are to completely trust in the Lord’s provisions for our lives. We are to share the gospel of Jesus Christ willingly and with enthusiasm. We are never to take offense or to take it personally when our message is rejected. These are really big lessons in life and they are for the Christian and not only for the pastor.

Although some are called to share the message of Christ with the world and that is always a big responsibility to take on, it is important to know that as a Christian, you are called to follow Jesus, to walk in His light and in obedience to Him, to share the truth with others especially your family and to trust in God completely and live your life without needing the approval of the world.

Simply put, God is in control and justice belongs to Him. The Lord is righteous and will make sure that all of the scales are balanced in the end. What you need to do as a Christian is to pay attention to Him and don’t take to heart the opinions of the world. When you are a child of God you need to act like it and appreciate it because it is a blessing.

“Rejoice always, pray without ceasing, in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Do not quench the Spirit. Do not despise prophecies. Test all things; hold fast what is good. Abstain from every form of evil.” 1 Thessalonians 5:16-22
